I’ll always have a soft spot for him. I doodled him up in two different styles just to have something for myself. I was thinking if I ever get to touch the SBK story again I’ll probably connect it more to the Ianua world for those who might want to see old characters coming back.

This time I’ve drawn a school age Grimsby and a recently summoned Stolas. Before Janus came along, Grimsby was the youngest students granted license to summon in Mercia.

Gabriella Allard, Duchess of Etherled

She has recently reappeared in the story so I took time to doodle her out. There is also a conceptual piece for her coat of arms. Its lacking in a few achievements but I wanted to at least put up a doodle with the rest of her. 

Its also provides a great transition into World Building talk. Feel free to skip if you so choose. 

Mercia has 32 counties, 13 of which are associated with the Ancient Households. So far we’ve introduced three of those in Ianua (technically 4 if you count character bios): The House of the Blessed Lady, the Golden Scales, and the Royal Household. Each has their own heraldic symbols which we will reveal as the story progresses. 

Questions, comments, observations are all appreciated!

Yeah, I am making Julie do this.

I am sorry but I continuously felt like I was missing something in the Thor comics when Thor found Loki. I kept rereading hoping I had skipped a few pages. There was no build-up unless a sick chase scene somehow strengthened their relationship. More pages were wasted on Parisian scenery than on Loki’s self-discovery. It bothered me. 

Now, I will admit that I don’t read a lot of comics. Back when I did, I read Dark Horse stuff. Neil Gaiman must have spoiled me because I have been really put off by how character development seems like filler for gratuitous fight scenes in the comics I have read with BB Loki. That, and the fact that storytelling has been spread so thin among various books that you literally have to amass a small bookshelf worth of comics to have an inkling of what is going on with just one character.

So, in response, Julie and I will be revisiting the scene in Thor that leads up to Journey into Mystery because…. why not?
